Hello. My name is Heather.

a world of peace and harmony
through the practice of all things Spiritual.
The Seven Principles of Spiritualism
PRINCIPLE 1 - THE EXISTENCE OF A DIVINE CREATOR
So, the desire to understand the first principle of “The Existence of a Divine Creator” is a good desire. God is not a man. God is the term that we use. A term that we give for a better understanding of the Divine Source. The Source that is inside all of us and around us. It is within every rock, every tree, everything is made from this Source and created. So, in essence, we are all God. We are a Source of that Spirit. There is no need to be frightened of the word “God”. It is just a term that was used. The Source that created our universe is Divine in essence. One more thing, the Source that some call God is LOVE. Love is the energy of the universe from which all Natural Laws stem. We all come from love and will return to love. It is good to look at all the principles of what is called Spiritualism and have a deeper understanding of their true meaning.
PRINCIPLE 2 - THE CREATION OF THE DIVINE FAMILY OF HUMANITY
When speaking about the brotherhood of mankind or the family of humanity, it is simply different wording, but the meaning is the same. All souls in this world and in the unseen world are part of the Great Spirit, which is what we understand is the Source. We are the same, we are one and yet we are individual in our expression of that Spirit. So, God is within us and we are within God. In that sense, we are all equal. There is perfection as we are all the Source. And yet when coming to this world we express it in so many ways. That is why we are family. That is the expression of mankind.
PRINCIPLE 3 - COMMUNICATION, GUIDANCE AND HEALING FROM SPIRIT
This is an especially important principle for Spiritualism. Communication with Spirit has been in existence forever, not just for the modern world. Communication brings healing, to both this world and the next. Communication comes in many forms. It comes in the form of prayers but also in everyday conversations. Part of our belief as Spiritualists is that by communicating with the so-called dead, we are giving evidence that life is eternal. It is important for those in the world unseen to have their voices heard and acknowledged. The Master known as Jesus was in communion with the Saints, and with the Great Spirit that is known as God. With this gift Mediums, and others, can help alleviate the suffering of the bereaved. This is a very great gift. When many are gathered together, there is a blending of two worlds, which enables the power of spirit to manifest through each of us. Healing is what this world needs more than anything. So, this is the very basis of the belief of Spiritualism, that there is communication. That there is evidence that life is eternal. That life and love continues.
PRINCIPLE 4 - THE CONTINUOUS EXISTENCE OF THE SOUL
This is the basis of what we believe, energy cannot be destroyed it exists eternally. All souls including animals and plants, are Spirit. It is the force or energy of the Universe. We are like a drop of water in an ocean, all a part of the Divine Source. Only when we come into human form do we individualize. Even science has long proved that energy cannot be destroyed. Silver Birch describes Spirit as “the Laws of the Universe in action”. Spirit is LOVE, Spirit is perfection, only when we individualize do we sometimes experience imperfection. We are constantly evolving. The part of you that is Spirit does not die, only the body dies. Spirit always was, and always will be. We are energy that has turned into matter. On the other side they vibrate at a higher level. Their world penetrates our world, but we can’t see it because it has a much higher vibration. We work on our progress on the other side, we don’t immediately become saints or angels. As we are a part of the family of souls, we will all have continuous existence. The substance of our souls comes from the same source. Great Spirit is love and wisdom. We are eternal and infinite. We don’t just believe in the continuation of the soul, but it is a fact as proven by communication from Spirit. ENERGY CANNOT BE DESTROYED.
PRINCIPLE 5 - PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY
We are personally responsible for our own lives. We are responsible for our words, thoughts, and actions. But we are not responsible for anyone else. Responsibility lies completely with us; we can’t use the excuse that our environment or upbringing made us do something. As we are given free will, we are given the ability to recognize what is right and wrong. Our thoughts create our reality, either a positive or negative outcome. We are solely responsible, and we will review our life, without judgement, once on the other side. Our thoughts and actions have consequences. We need to consider before we act, how it will affect our Spirituality. The University of Spiritualism by Harry Boddington states that, “It is better to ask forgiveness from the person that you have wronged, than to pray to God to take over your sin.” We have personal responsibility to lead a better life, to do good for its own sake. To strive to live in harmony with all living creatures and with the Divine Source.
PRINCIPLE 6 - THE EXISTENCE OF THE SPIRITUAL LAW OF CAUSE AND EFFECT
The law that is known as compensation and retribution is very formal to the modern ear, but in reality, is quite simply the law of cause and effect. And in some ways, it is the law of do unto others as you would be done by. And yet when we come to this world and live a physical life it can be so much more difficult; or seem to be. But it is a natural law, it must be that effect follows cause. And automatically comes into operation, maybe not immediately, but at some point. And the effects can sometimes seem to be catastrophic. It follows on very nicely from personal responsibility. We are in a physical world and cannot escape the effects of our actions. When we go back home to Spirit, we will understand those effects. And yet there is no judgement except from ourselves. It is important to remember that our intentions and motives are taken into account. If we could strive, every one of us, to not hurt any of Gods’ Creations, then we are indeed fulfilling our purpose of being born. This world is governed by Spiritual and natural laws.
PRINCIPLE 7 - ETERNAL PROGRESS OPEN TO ALL SOULS
The last principle states, there is eternal progress for every soul. And every soul has the opportunity to evolve at their own pace. To feel the impulse to move on, the choice is theirs. It is free will in action. A soul can sit and rest for a while or can pursue thoughts and other paths of exploration. Not only of the next world but also other universes and other forms of being. No one is beyond that evolvement. At times Spiritual progress may seem to be at a standstill, but we are eternal and there is no time in Spirit. There is no rush, there is no competition. There is the one path of truth, but many branches of it. And as we progress, so do those in Spirit. And our Spirits and Souls will expand, forever seeking truth. Spirit are forever trying to help and guide us; but cannot interfere in our life decisions. There are no mistakes, there are only experiences. Truth is open to all who seek it. And as we progress in earthly life, we are making for ourselves a place in Spirit where we will feel acceptance and love. In spirit we will have the freedom to choose what we wish to explore and where we will be able to express the many facets of our Soul. Eternal progress which is open to all souls should alleviate the fear of death, for ourselves and for our loved ones.
